A
new project...the next...the best yet. Create a pendant or a brooch . 1. Design your piece. Come up with several alternatives, this is to be done in class and for one night. Place your sketches in your sketch book. Begin work the next day. For your design you must look at no fewer than one book or magazine and copy out at least one piece which gives you some ideas for proceeding. You may actually copy the piece if you wish, or parts of it. Written assignment (see handout) |

2. Discuss your design with Sara or Nancy and follow procedure for acquiring metal (see #3). What are the requirements for this piece? The base is copper or brass, sheet and wire. You may incorporate silver, wood, glass, beads, feathers, plastic, or other items This will entail learning "cold connections". The size is no less than 1" x 1" and no larger than 3" in any direction. You must plan for a clasp for the pin or a way to hang the piece around the neck (figure out how to include this in your design). Your piece will include cold and soldered connections. 3. Make your pattern for cutting the metal and get your metal from Sara or Nancy. 4. Saw, file and sand pieces. 5. Assemble, finish. |
