Jewelry Final Assessment Santa Rosa High School Fall/Winter 2002-2003
As you review for the semester, keep these thoughts in mind. The assessment will consist of three parts.
1. The class critique where all your work will be on the bench, arranged on a clean, background of your choice. A piece of 8x11 construction paper is suitable, as is a piece of cloth or a jewelry box with your work displayed clearly. ALL your efforts should be there, including "attempts" and all work, complete or incomplete. Your sketch book/journal/notebook should be among the items present.
You will be given one minute to speak on these 3 topics:

1. What do you consider to be your greatest success and why?
2. What was the most difficult thing you did and how did you
solve the difficulties?
3. What do you plan to work on next?

2. You will perform an operation safely and successfully, such as soldering a butt joint for a ring or applique two pieces of metal together, polishing a piece on the flex shaft, chasing apiece of metal, rolling a texture on the rolling mill, or any of several other operations you have been taught during the semester. This part of the assessment has been done in class. As time permits we will test some people as needed and possible.

3. You will pass a safety and procedures test. This will cover:
location of tools and equipment (check out your map of the studio)
procedure for soldering, including safe set-up and what to wear.
safe operations at the flex shaft, drill press, and bench (sawing, filing, sanding)
